Item #LA1C - L'Apogée France (we're told made at same factory as Luc Childeric) 17" Forward Flap with Leathers/Irons, New $4,195 and up
L’Apogée 17” Close Contact Jumping Saddle. If you are not yet familiar with L’Apogée (lap-oh-ZHAY), it is a French brand (translates as “the pinnacle of achievement") that is comparable in quality and comfort to Antares, CWD, Devoucoux, Luc Childeric, and other French brands that you know and love retailing in the same price range. If you love the French brands, you’ll love L’Apogée (it is equally comfortable in my mind to all of the usual French brands.) (When I first saw this saddle I thought “If I didn’t know better I would say it's Luc Childeric!” It has the same blonde piping on the seat, same leather color you see on Luc Childerics, same leather quality. Then I found out that, according to my source, they are made at the same factory at Luc Childeric.) This is the LX1 which is a deeper seat model to offer a secure and comfortable ride. But don’t just take my word for it on how comfortable this brand is like other top French brands, visit the Chronicle of the Horse forums to see what other riders have to say about the L’Apogée brand: Chronicle forums re L’Apogée : https://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/forum/discussion-forums/hunter-jumper/147418-l-apogee-saddles
This saddle has been nicely cared for to maintain the softness and suppleness of the leather. Flap is forward and the serial number digit indicating the flap length is hard to read (It says either 2A or 3A, I can’t be sure because the first digit is so faint.) A 2A normally measures about 13” and a 3A normally measures about 14”… this one measures about 13.5” so it’s hard to say definitively! This means it is either the regular length/forward flap or the long length/forward fla. This 13.5" length measurement will typically work for riders in the 5’4” to 5’8” or so range (side note: as always with flap measurements sizing on any saddle there is some variation for whether your carry more of your height in your legs, torso, or evenly distributed between upper/lower body and of course an element of personal preference too, i.e. some riders like a closer contact of less flap under their leg so it could also work for a rider taller than 5’8” if they prefer less flap under the lower leg, if that makes sense). The flap measures approximately 13.5” in length from the top of the stirrup bar to the bottom of the flap and approximately 14” in width at the widest point. Features front and back blocks. Has both original billet guards. I see typical signs of use, such as rubs/wear, darkening, and some scratches on the flap. Tree is regular, measuring approximately 4.5" between the dots, a size that will work for many horses. Beautiful saddle, compares nicely to any of the top French brands and we're bringing it you at a better price than comparable brands you already know just to encourage you to try the brand if you haven't yet had the pleasure of test riding it before. (Great opportunity for the rider looking for a lot of performance bang for the buck to seize this chance to get more for less!) Made in 2011. Comes with free leathers (the nice flat buckle type) that are in schooling condition and irons to get you started. Save thousands. New starts at $4,195 and up. Ours just $1795.
