Item #B80C - Butet 17/17.5, Soft Supple Leather, Long Flap, with Passier Leathers, Korsteel Irons, Medallion Shaped Pad, Professional's Choice Square Pad with VenTECH Lining, and Big D Quilted Carrying Case
Butet Close Contact Jumping Saddle. Stamped 17 and measures generously as is common for this brand. We get about 17 ¼” by our tape, so may work for a rider who takes a 17 or a 17.5. Features a long flap, standard position (“2” in this brand). Flaps measure approximately 13.5” in length from the top of the stirrup bar to the bottom of the flap and approximately 13 ¾” in width. Soft, supple leather. No blocks for a very close contact feel. This is an older model with the feature that made Butet famous, the narrow twist, which many riders find allow their leg to wrap down and around the horse as opposed to feeling “perched” on top of the saddle. Because the more recently made Butets seem not to often have the same narrow twist, this era of Butets have a cult following with some riders who prefer them to the newer ones. (For instance one of our clients is a tack shop owner who says that even though she can buy a brand spanking new Butet at wholesale price, she prefers us to find her Butets from this era because of the more narrow twist.) Tree is regular, measuring approximately 4 1/8” between the dots, and may work for a horse that has a higher wither and bigger shoulder, as the panel angle is more generous than on some other Butets we have seen. Features soft, supple leather. Has both billet guards. I see typical signs of use, some spidering, and some staining on underside of saddle. Great opportunity to get a Butet at an affordable price that has been nicely maintained. Retail $5,350 for saddle alone, plus free Passier leathers ($79.95), Korsteel 4 ¾” irons with nice sparkling white fillis pads that are horse-show ready ($35), Medallion Shaped Pad ($61.95). Professional’s Choice Square Pad with VenTECH ligning ($57.99), and Big D quilted saddle carrying case ($73.95) Ours just $1195.
